GLOSSARY of SPARCS (系统词汇解释)

A

above deck (甲板贝位) The portion of the bay above the vessel deck. active program (当前运行程序)

The program you are currently using. You can have several programs open at the same time, but only one can be active. Open programs appear in the Application menu at the right end of the menu bar, with a check mark next to the name of the active program.

active window (当前运行窗口)

The window that has solid running lines across its title bar. It accepts keyboard entry (if any) and responds to the mouse immediately.

administrator (系统管理员) See SPARCS administrator. alert box (警告框)

A box that appears on the screen to give a warning or other message, sometimes accompanied by an alert sound. alert sound (警告铃声)

An audible beep, chime, squeak or other noise to give a warning. It usually accompanies an alert box. allocation filter (分配过滤器)

A filter used with group criteria to create an allocation group in the Yard Allocations window. allocation group (分配组)

A second-level Combined group and filter that combines routing criteria with an allocation filter. You usually create allocation groups in the Yard Allocations window.

allocation group template (分配组模板文件)

A file specifying a set of allocation groups that you be saved and use later reused to generate the same or a similar set of groups.

allocation range (分配区域)

A range of stacks or wheeled positions in a yard associated with an allocation group. Apple menu (苹果系统菜单)

The menu at the left end of the menu bar, indicated by the Apple symbol. You choose items from this menu to get information about programs' memory use and open items placed in the Apple Menu Items folders (in the System Folder).

Application menu (应用菜单)

The menu at the right end of the menu bar of Apple computers (its icon changes to indicate which program is the active program). You choose items from this menu to hide windows belonging to open but inactive programs and to make an open program the active program. See also active program. apron (岸壁)

The area of the quay adjacent to the vessel. attribute label (属性参数)

A label for a container attribute that you can add to live container lists and recaps. See also container attribute. B

berth (泊位)

The water area, at the water-front edge of a wharf, reserved for a vessel. The term is sometimes used to refer to the dock or wharf structure. Box (指“集装箱”) See container.

bulk cargo 散货 (但在集装箱运输中特指“件装货“)

Cargo stowed without benefit of package or container, for example grains or liquids that are shipped loose.

C

carrier (承运人)

Individual company or corporation engaged in the transport of goods. cell (指“箱位”)

A term that sometimes refers to a stack, and sometimes a slot. cellular vessel (全集装箱船)

A ship specially designed and arranged for the carriage of containers. Holds and cells are arranged so that the containers are lowered and stored in a vertical line and restrained at all four corners by vertical posts or guides. CHE (集装箱作业设备)

Container handling equipment. A truck, RTG, straddle carrier, top-pick, and so forth is a type of CHE (pronounced chay). chassis (拖盘)

Special trailer or undercarriage on which containers are moved over the road. check digit (校验数)

A calculated value added to the end of a container ID number verifying its validity.

codes file (代码文件)

An editable text file defining all the valid equipment type, port, D&H material, line operator, group, special stow, commodity, vessel, and time codes used at a site.

composite (time frame) (复合计划时间界面)

A time frame similar to the future frame except that containers that have been planned elsewhere show a \"shadow\" in their current positions. This view is a composite of the future and current time frames. See also future and current. container (集装箱)

A box for transporting cargo, constructed with varying dimensions and to withstand transportation stresses. container attribute (集装箱信息)

In SPARCS, a class of container information you can display and sort on a container list or recap, work queue, or in a filter dialog box.

container crane (岸桥 或 桥吊)

Usually, a rail-mounted gantry crane located on a wharf for the purpose of loading and unloading containers on vessels. container filter (集装箱过滤器)

A specific group of container criteria used to search the container database to create a list or recap of matching containers. container icon (集装箱图标)

The representation of a container in a SPARCS view (yard, vessel, etc.). Container icons display in one of two sizes (small or large), depending on the type of graphical view and the display mode. Different icon formats display useful container information at a glance. For example, the Sequence format displays the container move sequence number in addition to other container information.

container list (集装箱清单)

A scrolling window that displays container information sorted by container attributesspecified attribute classes. Container Handling Equipment (集装箱搬运机械) See CHE.

current (time frame) (当前箱壮态框)

A time frame showing containers in their current position.

D

D&H (危险品)

Dangerous and hazardous. See also IMDG code. D&H Checking (危险品查验)

A feature that checks dangerous and hazardous goods stowage. Database (数据库)

A large collection of data organized for storage and rapid retrieval. 3

display modes (显示模式)

Ways to display and color SPARCS yard views by time frame, container attributes, allocation status, points of work in the yard, etc. Display modes are organized in up to four display pop-up menus at the bottom of yard and vessel views. dongle “软件狗“ 或 ”加密器“ (使用许可控制锁)

A small hardware security device that attaches to servers, backup servers and machines running in solo mode that enables the licensed use of SPARCS.

E

EDI (电子数据交换)

Electronic Data Interchange. A system of electronic data processing standards. export (container) (出口箱)

A container that has arrived at the terminal by rail or truck and will be loaded onto an outbound vessel. See also import, rehandle, transship.

F

fail to deck (计划到位失败)

A container that for which SPARCS cannot plan to assign a yard position. This occurs if there is are no matching yard allocation filter, group, or range, or if matching yard allocation ranges are full or inactive. SPARCS plans places such a container to in the Fail!! logical block. FEU (40英尺标箱)

Forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU) is equivalent to two TEUs. Filter (过滤器)

File transfer protocol. A special networking protocol that enables files to be transmitted over the Internet. frontmost window (当前窗口)

The window with horizontal lines appearing in its title bar. Some operations such as printing windows require that you have the desired window frontmost.

future (time frame) (未来状况框)

A time frame representing the state of the ship, terminal, or train when all the currently planned moves are applied.

H

hazard code (危险品等级) See IMDG code.

hazardous (危险品)

Adjective used as a general term for both dangerous and hazardous cargo. See also IMDG code and D&H. heap (系统内设定的临时周转场地)

A yard block in which containers are not assigned specific slot locations. The contents of a heap can only be viewed in lists and recaps.

high cube (高箱)

Any container that exceeds 8'6\" (102\") in height. Usually, it refers to a container which is 9'6\" in height. host (主机)

At a container terminal, the host computer maintains the container database and history. The host may also process gate

transactions, do EDI, and print various reports and forms. With SPARCS, the host sends container data to the SPARCS server, and the host receives position updates from SPARCS. See SPARCS Server and client/server.

I

imminent (time frame) 即将的计划内时间框

A time frame for displaying planned containers that have been marked for a move. Available with SPARCS Equipment Control with the Yard Demand Forecasting Option. See also future, current, and composite. IMDG code (国际海运危险品代码)

International Maritime Dangerous Goods code. IMO published guide for the transport of dangerous goods by sea. In common use, hazard codes such as 4.1, 6, and so on.

import (container) (进口箱)

A container that will be discharged from the vessel at the current port call and will leave the terminal by rail or truck, but not by this or another vessel. See also rehandle, transship. intermodal (多式联运)

This term denotes the use or ability of containers to change mode of transport from ship to truck to rail, in any order. ISO (国际标准化组织)

International Standards Organization. ISO is a worldwide organization formed to promote development of standards to facilitate the international carriage and exchange of goods and services. It governs the construction specifications for ISO containers. ISO code (国际标准化组织编码)

Refers to the codes established by the ISO to describe container equipment types, such as 2000, 2200, 4200, and so on.

LAN (局域网)

Acronym for local area network. A computer network whose extent is limited to an area that does not require common carrier telecommunications to join the computers on the network. live recap (实时定义)

A dynamic, onscreen tabular display of container information for selected containers. logical blocks (虚拟场位)

A block which is not slot specific but is still a location where containers are grouped together. For example, the Apron could be a logical block.

M

Macintosh (苹果电脑)

A family of computers introduced by Apple Computer in 1984 which was the first widely available computer to use a graphical user interface (GUI) with icons, pull down menus, dialog boxes, and a mouse. MacsBug 系统问题探索软件

Software that provides troubleshooting information about your workstation. With MacsBug installed, you can produce a report that Navis technicians use to determine the cause of a crash. MDT (无线终端)

Mobile data terminal. See RDT. metric tonne (公吨)

1,000 kilograms or 2,204.6 pounds. micro view (微观)

A miniature version of a satellite, yard scan, or yard section view.

N

non-specific stowage (非指定箱位堆存箱)

Containers that occupy a non-slot specific position in the yard, such as a block, heap, or row. normal container (系统内的正常箱)

Any real or projected container in SPARCS passed from the host computer or input by electronic data interchange (EDI). See also orphan container

O

off-dock (港外堆场作业)

A term that refers to operations taking place outside the boundaries of a marine container terminal.

on-dock (港内作业)

A term that refers to operations taking place within the boundaries of a marine container terminal. orphan container (系统内的箱子)

Any real container created in SPARCS rather than passed from the host computer or input by electronic data interchange (EDI). See also normal container. overstow 压港(港序颠倒箱) See restow.

overstow checking 压港(港序颠倒箱检查) A term for checking for restows at future ports. overstowed container 压港箱 (港序颠倒箱)

A container that is stowed above a container destined for a nearer port.

P

planning 做计划

Assigning a container position in SPARCS, either manually using the pointer or a flow tool, or automatically by using Planning>Assign Position, or through a receival message from the host system. point of work (POW) 作业区

A location at which work is performed. Cranes are typical points of work for vessel operations, and the gate is a typical point of work for receivals and deliveries. For Equipment Control, points of work are necessary to link work queues to work pools. port rotation 港序 See vessel service. POW

A microcomputer which uses the PowerPC chip developed by IBM, Motorola, and Apple. Macintosh computers which use the PowerPC chip are also known as PowerMacs. See also Macintosh. preplan (time frame) (预配时间框)

The time frame used to create preplanned or projected containers on a vessel. See also projected container. projected container (预配箱)

A type of container used in vessel preplanning. Projected containers act as placeholders for real containers and cannot be planned to other locations. See also real container.

quay (码头岸线)

The location on the dock along the water's edge where ships are loaded and unloaded. (Usually pronounced \"key.\")

R

RDT (无线终端)

Radio Data Terminal (RDT).

real container (系统内的实际箱子)

Any container in SPARCS representing an actual container in the yard, on a vessel, or elsewhere that can be planned and completed to another location. See also projected container. reefer (冷藏箱)

Slang term denoting a refrigerated container. rehandle (container) (翻捣箱)

A container in the yard that must be moved to access other containers being moved out of the yard. SPARCS can distinguish rehandles in the future, current, and imminent time frames. See also restow. rehandle (场地翻捣) See restow.

remain-on-board (过境箱 或 留传箱)

A term that refers to cargo that remains on a car while passing through a terminal. Unless otherwise indicated, this does include restows. restow (翻捣)

Containers that must come off a ship to allow access to containers to be discharged. (Restows are sometimes referred to as overstows or rehandles.) ROB

For transverse access stacks (RTG, forklift, and top-pick areas), a row is constant for a \"cross-section\" or \"bay.\" For longitudinal access blocks (straddle areas), a row is constant along the straddle run. For wheeled parking blocks, a row is constant along an aisle.

RTG (“场桥“ 或 ”轮胎吊“)

Rubber-tired gantry crane. This type of equipment typically works container runs that are four-, five-, or six-high by six-wide.

satellite view (俯视图)

A configurable view displaying the contents of all the yard blocks in a yard plan.

section (箱区)

A group of side-by-side stacks (or stacked tier groups). containers that represents one row in the yard or an above- or below-deck area on a vessel. security key 安全(使用)控制锁 See dongle.

settings file (系统设备文件)

An editable text file that defines the configuration settings for your site, how container classes and attributes display, how some menus display, and how recap reports, stow plans, and sequence sheets print. ship file 贝图资料

A file created in the Navis ShipEditor application that defines a vessel class. slot (箱位)

The exact location of a single container. SPARCS (SPARCS系统)

Acronym for Synchronous Planning and Real-time Control System, Navis's graphical planning and control system for container terminals that combines vessel, yard, and rail planning with the dispatching and control of container handling equipment. SPARCS administrator (系统管理)

The person or persons who maintains the SPARCS planning system, including tasks such as maintaining the SPARCS server, upgrading the application, managing the support files (such as the yard, codes, SPARCS Settings, and equiv files), registering users and their passwords, creating groups, and providing on-site support for the planning staff. SPARCS server (系统服务器)

An Apple Macintosh or PC-compatible computer running SPARCS in the server mode. The SPARCS server initializes SPARCS workstations with data when they start up and keeps all SPARCS workstations in sync. stack (批)

A vertical grouping of container slots. stack restriction (堆放)

A set of criteria SPARCS applies to stacks you select. These indicate whether stacks can accept stowage, and limit the kinds of stowage with criteria such as stacking height, length limits, and so on. stay-on-board See remain-on-board. storage (堆存箱)

Containers stored long term in the yard.

straddle carrier (strad) (跨运车)

A self-propelled, steerable vehicle on wheels, open in the middle, that can straddle a container or container-on-chassis, then lift and move it from one place to another in a container yard. Capable of straddling a single row of containers, usually stacked three high.

superblocks (作业箱区)

A block that groups together several blocks to form a larger block that can all be viewed together in one view. Typically used to group several RTG runs into one view.

T

tare weight (箱皮重)

The weight of the empty container. TEU (20英尺标箱)

Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit. The common unit used in indicating the capacity of a container vessel or terminal. See also FEU. through 过境箱 See remain-on-board. tier (集装箱堆放的“层“)

A horizontal group of slots. (一组平行箱位) time frames (显示系统不同时间段的箱子界面)

Ways to display containers in SPARCS yard and vessel views in different time periods. You can choose to display container positions in preplan (vessel-only), current, future, or composite time frames. thru过境箱

A container to be unloaded from a vessel, and will subsequently leave the yard by another vessel (and not by truck or rail). Many terminal operators group exports and transships in the same category by setting the SPARCS AMIXET setting to `Y'.

VCOD (vessel codes) (船舶编码)

A section of the codes file that describes specific vessels that frequently call at a terminal. vessel call (船舶挂靠)

A record in the vessel schedule that defines scheduling and identification information for a vessel. See also vessel schedule.

vessel schedule (靠舶计划)

A list of vessel calls. See also vessel call. vessel service (航线)

The port rotation or schedule for a vessel. Each vessel call requires a vessel service. view mode (视图模式)

Ways to display SPARCS yard satellite and block views by yard allocations, stack status, CHE range, hazardous containers, and so forth. The available selections vary depending on the SPARCS configuration and are listed in the view mode pop-up menu at the bottom of the yard view window.

W

weight class (重量分级)

A user-defined container attribute to group container or sort containers by weight ranges. wharf (码头前沿)

A berthing place for vessels to facilitate direct loading and discharge of cargo. Wheeled, wheels (港内拖运车)

Denotes the practice of leaving containers on road-capable chassis parked in the terminal yard (as opposed to grounded operations in which containers are placed directly on the ground). Windows NT (图表视窗)

A computer operating system written by Microsoft Corporation that employees a graphical user interface and runs on PC-compatible computers. workstation (工作站)

A computer you can use to run your SPARCS application and send and receive work to and from the network. It can be an Apple Macintosh or PC-compatible running Microsoft Windows NT. work instruction (工作指示)

A paper document or electronic message telling an operator or driver where to fetch and put a planned container. work queue (作业任务队列)

Dynamic, onscreen lists of planned moves and work instructions automatically created in SPARCS when container moves are planned. See also work instruction.

Y

yard allocation (堆场计划安排)

An area of the yard designated for a certain type of container. Yard allocations are set up in the SPARCS Yard Planning and Control module.

yard heap (系统内设定的临时周转场地) See heap.

yard view (堆场视图)

Graphical representations of the yard in SPARCS. There are The five types of yard view. These view are hierarchical, from a top-down view of the entire yard, to detailed cross-sectional views of rows and slots.
