Good morning, everyone. I’m JiangYan, a student from HNU. I am very glad to be here and share my opinions. Today I’m going to talk about 7A Chapter 3 Comic strip and Welcome to the unit. This lesson is focused on the topic of the arrangement of daily life. Since it is a dialogue lesson, it will be helpful to improve the Ss communicative ability.

Firstly I’ll talk about the teaching objectives 1. Objectives on the knowledge

(1) To enable the students to know some expressions of festivals. (2) To help Ss to act this dialogue out.

(3) Enable the students to master some new words: festival, as, dress, celebrate , favorite ,Halloween , ghost, moon cake. 2. Objectives on the abilities

(1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of speaking. (2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups 3. Objectives on the emotion

(1) Try to love Chinese traditional culture. (2) Arouse students’ interest in English. Next I’ll talk about key points of this part. (1) Talk about their favorite holiday.

(2) To enable Ss to study in groups and co-operate skillfully. (3) Pronounce every word correctly.

After that I’ll say something about difficult points of this part. (1) It is difficult to read the names of some festivals.

(2) It may be hard for students to make some dialogues. Then, I’ll talk about teaching methods.

Everyone knows the main instructional aim of learning English in middle school is to cultivate students’ basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson, I’ll mainly use Task-based teaching method and Communication method.

Finally, I’ll talk about teaching procedures. Step 1 Warming up and lead in

First, I’ll show some pictures about the Halloween cerebrating. Then ask students what are they doing and help them to answer this question.

Purpose: It can make relax and happy environment and catch students’ attention. Step 2 presentation

Show the comic strip on the screen T: Look! We can see Eddie and Hobo again. T:What are they doing? Can you guess? S:I think they’re celebrating their holiday. Learn new words:celebrate, holiday。 Holiday—the day you don’t have to go to school. Celebrate—do something for the day. T:What is Eddie doing? S: He’s dressing up as a ghost

Teach them dress up as…and ghost。(Using gesture and face expression) T:Do you like dressing up as a ghost? (No, we don’t). Eddie doesn’t like, either. T:What’s Hobo dressing up as now? S: He is dressing up as Monkey King

Teach new word monkey king (ask some students to imitate) Let students to read in pairs and act it out.

Show them pictures in part A and teach them how to read these words.

Purpose: showing students the new word by gesture, face expression and imitate can help them remember these words deeply and easily. Step 3 practice

Play a game to help students remember the new words, and do some exercise to cheek. Ask one student

T: which is your favorite festival? S: ---

T: why do you like ---

S: because--- (help the student to answer) Work in pairs

Purpose: games can catch students’ attention and help them to solid the new words. Work in pairs is a good way to develop their abilities of communication and cooperation. Step 4 sum up Step 5 homework

Talk about your favorite festival to your friends.

Purpose: homework is a necessary method to give students more chances to use English.
